My Self-Summary

Back home, I'm a noble, the son of a Margrave, but for most of my life I've been a knight and a soldier. I'm mostly just looking for a good time and people who are open-minded enough to enjoy it with me, maybe try out some new things. There's a lot here I've never gotten to experience and I'm interested in changing that.



Outside of that, I'm a connoisseur of fine food and fine teas. I enjoy cooking, gardening, horseback riding, chess, and discussing a wide variety of topics, whether it's art, fiction, theoretical ideals, or more esoteric topics.

My Future Plans

Enjoying myself to the fullest here. Making conections and meeting new people. Experiencing all this place has to offer and finding those interested in exploring it with me.

My Talents

Varied and many. I had a robust interest in pursuing pleasures of all sorts back home and I hope to keep expanding that knowledge and skillset here.

Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and Food

I enjoy books on a variety of topics, but I've never seen a movie. Plays and operas are far more common in my world and a comparible form of entertainment. I like a wide variety of dishes and have a fondness for trying new dishes from distant places. I have a fondness for spices and rich flavors.

My Ideal Partner

I'm very adaptable and tend to adjust to whoever I'm with, making this a very broad category, since I have a varied taste in companions as well, depending on my mood. I find people interesting and like as many varieties here as I do in my favorite dishes.

[ He is well aware, and his expression is soft and fond as Sylvain melts under his touch ]

I thought you'd enjoy the process, at least.

[ That one's easy to admit. ]

And...I thought it would be nice to make you something you could keep on your person.

[ One amber eye peeks open in warm amusement, peering up at him. ]

Our tattoo doesn't count?

[ gods it still makes his stomach flutter sometimes when they're this close and Sylvain looks at him like that. ]

I didn't make you that.

[philancer]

Teeeeechnically… [ He drawls out with a quirk of his lips. ] You dubbed me your little fox in the first place. So you’re completely responsible for it in all ways that matter.

[bardische]

[ His fingers stay focused, reaching the end of the braid and reaching for the fox medallion bead, tying off the braid with a little band that doubles as a stopper to hold the bead in place. But he turns to kiss Sylvain's brow, smile warm. ]

One gift is enough then? I shouldn't do more?

[philancer]

Mmm. [ He gives a thoughtful little hum at that before shooting Basch an impish grin as he leans into that touch. ]. Not at all. I can be very greedy, after all.

[bardische]

[ Basch's fingers comb through Sylvain's hair again, pulling a second set of strands father back as he continues to work. It's soothing, like his woodworking, but pleasant being this close to Sylvain while he does. ]

I like spoiling you [ he admits. Privately, he thinks the other man deserves a good deal more of it, given the deficit he had. ]

I suppose that’s only fair to allow, when I like spoiling you so much in turn.

[ Just in case him taking every opportunity to do so had escaped Basch’s notice so far. ]

[bardische]

[ he's gotten better about noticing and not finding reasons to justify the behavior, but its still good for him to hear it, and how please Sylvain is to do it for him.

He gets to the bottom of the second braid, putting on a plain bead, and switches to the other side. But not without taking Sylvain's head in both hands and kissing the crown of his head. ]

You'd have spooked me off, you know, if you'd insisted on spoiling me without allowing me the effort.

[ That just gets another thoughtful hum as he considers that. ]

Would I have, though? I think I spooked you several times, actually, and yet you kept coming back for more.

[bardische]

[ He chuckles at that, shaking his head as his fingers move to the other side of Sylvain's head. ]

Maybe you're right. I do always come back when you spook me, and all the rules have been different with you.

[philancer]

[ Sylvain reaches out to brush his fingers against Basch’s chest, since he can’t really move much with Basch braiding his hair. ]

Well, that’s only fair, I think, since you’ve broken pretty much ever rule I’ve ever had and I’m finding I’m perfectly thrilled about it.

[bardische]

[ That constant need to touch is so familiar now, but it still makes him smile. ]

Good. I want to keep thrilling you.

[ Really, though, it makes his heart swell that Sylvain feels that way, given what he knows of the other. That Basch can be such a safe space for him brings him such joy.

He finishes the third braid and starts on the last. ]

[ He sits patiently while Basch works, his back to the mirror so he can’t see it yet, even if he struggles not to squirm with impatience. ]

How’s it look?

[bardische]

[ Truly that was a testament to Sylvain's trust in him, working to not squirm for something like this. He keeps his fingers working, even as he shakes his head in amusement. ]

You always look beautiful. I...like this though.

[ He'll finish the last one, placing the bead on it. And with one more kiss to Slyvain's forehead, guides the chair back around so he can see. ]

[ Sylvain lets himself be turned, leaning in to eye the small braids with fascination and delight. The beads click together when he moves his head, which is a little distracting, but only in the best way.

His grin widens as he meets Basch’s gaze in the reflection. ]

This would be considered exotic, back where I come from. The only people I’ve ever seen wear braids were those from beyond the natural borders of Fodlan.

[ Duscar were their own people with the own beliefs, for all the ties they’d held to Faerghus. Brigid and Sreng might as well be another world. There was still Claude, of course, but Goddess only knew which mysterious origin he’d popped out of before waltzing in to take his place as the Duke’s only heir. ]

I suppose it is exotic, given we learned it here. [ His smile is small, but his eyes are bright and teasing. ]

You would have been exotic on your own, with your hair, but Ivalice is so full of foreigners, I don't think people would have much minded. Other than to have heads turned.

[ It was odd to think of Sylvain there, because any way it could have happened, Basch likely would not have had reason to talk to him, let alone any of the rest. But -- Sylvain would have enjoyed much of it. ]

So you like them?

[ He reaches up to catch Basch's hand, tugging it back and closer, so he can press a kiss to his palm, His eyes are dark and warm with affection as he catches and holds the man's gaze in the mirror's reflection. ]

I love them.

[ A pause, because that doesn't feel quite right. Doesn't sound right. He doesn't let himself think about it, doesn't let himself freeze, or choke - as he so often does. Just lets the words spill out of him, when so often they get trapped behind a dam of guilt and shame and insecurity. ]

I love you.

[bardische]

[ his eyes go wide, a tingling heat whipping through him toe to crown. He’s never used that phrase again, not since Sylvain explained why he had a hard time with it. That it was something given both too freely and without sincerity, wasn’t a thing he wanted to use between them. That had been alright, more than alright, because he had no doubt about what he meant to Sylvain.

He also has no doubt how sincere it is now. And how right the other must feel, for it to slip out.

He laughs, joyous and bright and disbelieving, stepping around and pulling Sylvain’s face into his. There are hungry kisses — many, between them many days and nights — but this is an entirely different kind of demanding. Promising. Thanking. Loving. ]

Perhaps it is time for me to stop worrying how you will receive my gifts. I did not dream someone could be this pleased to be mine.

[ He laughs softly, a faint, self-conscious flush creeping up the back of his neck at Basch's reaction to the words.

He was trying not to think about it. That he'd said them. That he meant them. He didn't want to spoil the moment with a panic attack now of all times. But it was hard to think anyway, with Basch kissing him like that. ]

There's nothing I want more. Only to be yours.

[bardische]

[ he sees the hint of panic, hears the strain in Sylvain’s voice. So he just pulls him close, rocking him slightly, encouraging him to bury his face in Basch. ]

You have that always, brave heart. Just as you are.

[ This was a lovely moment, one he would cherish, but it didn’t need to change anything. The last thing he wanted was Sylvain to feel pressure, especially when this was meant to be a gift. ]

That has been true for quite awhile now.

[philancer]

[ He takes that invitation, burying his face against the curve of Basch's throat. The beads click together softly in his hair, the braids shifting with his movement. It feels strange, but he likes it. If only because it was something from Basch. A visible reminder.

Arms wrapping around his lover, he just presses close, soaking up that solid warmth and smiling against his throat. The panic is gone as quickly as it had come, the briefest flicker, easily banished. Far easier than it ever had been before. Basch seemed to have that effect. ]

You make it easier to feel brave.

[bardische]

[ feeling Sylvain settle so readily in his hold is its own gift. He recalls that first time, in that closed pod, still strangers, and yet.

Sylvain has always trusted him, and it's something he strives to always live up to. ]

I know the feeling.

[ He pulls back enough to slides his hands up Basch's arms, tipping his head back so he can meet his lover's gaze again. His amber eyes warm and dark with affection. ]

Thank you. For the beads and the braids. Although I have no idea how you did that so I'll probably have to come pester you to do it again in the future.

[ Such a hardship, putting up with him, he knows. ]

I could teach you, but -

[ He's smiling stupidly into the warmth of that gaze, into the glow of what's passed between them. He strokes Sylvain's hair back, fingers glancing over a braid. ]

I like doing them for you.
