His healing spells are more accurate and more effective with touch, but he can cast minor healing magic at short-range distances in an emergency. Currently seeking a tutor to teach him more advanced spells here and also a novice student in herbology and natural medicines to supplement it. |

Currently attempting to find different angles to channel magic to more productive ends than the psionic magic he'd ended up with. He can most often be found researching and practicing this in the Horizon, although he does, on occasion, attempt it in the real world with questionable results. |
![]() Intermediate, Experienced Built off his knowledge as a dark knight and his skills in Reason/black magic, Sylvain is still figuring out how to translate his former knowledge into the magic of this world. Before coming here, he'd mastered the Fire and Bolganone spells, which allow him to cast out contained fireballs, as well as open up a fissure of flames beneath an enemy's feet. He may try to see if he can recreate Ruined Sky if he finds a weapon he thinks can withstand it. |
![]() Beginner Born out of desperate times during captivity in the pit, Sylvain stumbled across this ability accidentally and in time of great need, completing a bonding ritual accidentally. The details of this ability he is still discovering but once bonded to a weapon, he can't be disarmed unless incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, he can summon it, causing it to instantly teleport to his hand. He can only be bonded to one weapon at a time, but the bond can be transferred to a different weapon with a repeat of the bonding ritual. |
![]() Beginner Dissonant Whispers, Vicious Mockery Built off an event gain when the old gods first stirred, Sylvain's novice knowledge of spells here involves causing psychic damage and can create doubt, insecurity, or other severe negative emotions in his target in response to his words or a discordant melody. Currently, he can only affect one target at a time and casting requires his full concentration. |

- Sarstina Inn. Still resides here with his friends for the time being. Shares a room with Claude, next to Hilda and Petra. Also frequently found working the bar in the tavern here and giving Mags a hand around the place. Affectionately refferred to as a 'Troublemaker' by the woman.
- Wright Stables. The commercial Stables in Cadens, run by Bridgette Wright. Sylvain works here for a lot of the morning/afternoon hours he's not helping out at the Inn, helping her tend to the horses and working with customers for her.
- Libertas. Sylvain is involved with the reconstruction work in Libertas ever since the attack from Thorne. Part of the early rescue operations, that translated into reconstruction and rebuilding work as well, and he tries to volunteer as much time as he can to help them recover.

APPEARANCE
Sylvain stands about 6'1 and has a broad, muscular build. He's filled out quite a bit since his days as a student and years at war have honed his physique into a weapon all its own. he has a bright shock of tousled red hair and warm brown eyes. He bears a scattering of scars from injuries gotten in past battles (mostly arrow or sword, with perhaps the occasional magic burn) but all of them are usually tucked away under his clothing. As of the first weekend visit to Nocwich, he now bears a faintly glowing tatoo on the inside of one hip; it's in the shape of a sun, representing his arcanum.

Sylvain prefers comfort and function over fussy outfits just for show. He tends to keep it simple in his everyday life and somehow manages to make most of his outfits look casual and relaxed. For example, as a student, he was the only one in his house to have his jacket unbuttoned and loose about him and the first few buttons of his shirt undone. He's still neat and tidy, but manages to pull off a more roguish and debonair look, rather than that of his often stiff and formal classmates. But that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to clean up well when the situation calls for it and can fit in just as easily in a high-society function as he can an afternoon shopping on the streets. He tends to favor bright bold colors: blues, reds, greens.

Sylvain has been training to be a knight and a warrior all his life and has a range of experience in various weapons, hand-to-hand, and battle strategy and tactics, as well as a surprising understanding of magic. He excels at combat in teams or acting as support with fellow soldiers and is versatile and quick to adapt to unexpected circumstances.
He's coming in classed as a Paladin, which is the FE tactical way of saying he's trained in moving swiftly over longer distances, isn't slowed down by difficult terrain, has extensive practice with lance (mastery level), sword, and riding, and is adept at evading both ranged attacks (from archers, etc) and magical/spell attacks. He's had training over the years in multiple classes/styles of fighting to give him a wide range of battle experience and knowledge.

Bolganone. superior black magic used to attack with flames. When cast, this spell will forcefully open up a fissure into the surface of the earth, and trigger an eruption to occur, burning the selected enemy target.

MINOR CREST OF GAUTIER
Sylvain possesses a minor Crest of Gautier he inherited from his bloodline. Gautier was one of the original Ten Elites who first possessed a Crest in the war between Seiros and Nemesis and possessing a Crest is a requirement to inherit the title and seat of Margrave, due to the House's constant defense against the incursion of the northern warlike clans of Sreng, as a Crest is required to safely wield their ancient relic, the Lance of Ruin.
Sylvain's Crest also has the added effect of being able to increase his might/strength in a fight and the damage he creates when using certain attacks, although this isn't something he can control and seems to happen at random.

- Magic Mastery. Sylvain has been primarily focusing on learning Healing magic and Enchantment, although he arrived already knowing some healing spells and some fire magic from home. He's also gained some Empathy magic and Psionic attacks from various events, although his honing of these is sporadic at best.
- Training. Sylvain continues to keep up his martial skills here, focusing on lance and sword skills. May add in an axe when he has the extra coin to afford it.
- Herbology. Sparked from an initial interest in gardening, this has become more of a hobby for him to help supplement his healing skills.
